Five Amazing Thanksgiving Ideas

We are segwaying from weddings to day to talk about Thanksgiving! I love scouring Pinterest every year to find new ways to spice up the Thanksgiving Table. Fortunately for me, you don’t have to be a Rockefeller to make your table look nice. Here’s my 5 Favorite Table ideas for the year! Just don’t forget to leave room for the food!

  1. Pine Cones

Our first adorable idea is a Pine Coned themed. This inspiration comes from the Alive and Livin’ blog. Her adorable Pine Cone Placeholders will set the mood for any gathering small or large and is very cost effective!

2. Individualized favor Bags

There are a few renditions of this table idea, allowing you to get creative or switch it up each year. The first is painted, burlap baggies as seen on The Night Owl Blog. This is a bit more time consuming but will leave each guest with a little something to take home with them.  Another option is to have each fork and knife in an individual Wrapping made from Kraft Paper. Check out these beautiful designs by Craftaholics.

3. Paper Runners

Trust me, I am just as sick as you are of Butcher Paper Runners, but for this one time i will make an exception. You can get incredibly creative with these and it gives the kids something fun to do! Check out this adorable idea from Dawn Nicole.

4. Fruit!

This is by far one of my favorite ideas. you can never go wrong with a small orange or pear at each place setting. Plus, it is dual purpose. You can eat it in the end! Check out Anthology Co and budget decorating for more cute ideas.

5. Pumpkins

No one will ever complain with a small personalized pumpkin at their place setting (say that ten times fast). Check out these adorable designs at Oh My Creative.

Coming Soon: Alexis + Brandon

“He recreated our first date… we had pizza, frozen yogurt, and then a walk on the beach, where our first kiss took place. Originally, the plan was for his brother to wrap a lifeguard chair in Christmas lights, where he would propose–but there was a bit of a snafu: his brother brought over the wrong battery-powered generator, and couldn’t plug in the lights. It’s funny to look back at it, but he was definitely stressed about it that evening. He followed through with the proposal anyway–and we shared a moment of excitement in the dark on the beach, lol. Even though it wasn’t the most perfect and theatrical moment, it was nice because it was us, under the stars, and being together.”

Early on in the wedding planning process Alexis and Brandon were able to experience that things will not always work out as planned. Alexis and Brandon both live in the Sunny state of Georgia. Brandon, 27, is the Southeast Operational Manager for Operation Christmas Child. Alexis, 24, is a Custom Designer for Shaw Industries. Rewind a few years back to a much less sunny, much more swampy borough of New York, Staten Island.

11902381_10204878364185374_9202657265084846582_nBrandon and Alexis met at Oasis Christian Center while Alexis was on tour with Holy Hands Ministries. “I (Brandon) had just moved from Florida to New York to start working as a youth pastor of a church there. She was working with an organization that did outreaches in major cities of the Northeast–and the organization worked closely with my church. We actually met the first week I was in New York, because they were staying at the church next to my office. At that time we both had a weird suspicion we would end up together–but we both weren’t really interested in each other at the time.”

Sometimes our souls have a funny way of telling us who we will end up with, even if you don’t really know it yet. Obviously, Alexis and Brandon’s attraction did grow, and as they walked through the path of dating they realized a lot about each other. Although at times it wasn’t an easy road, Alexis and Brandon’s trials and tribulations resulted with them on the beach, in the dark, with a ring on her hand, promising that they would work through life together as partners.

“Make sure that you have time to laugh and be silly together–life is already too serious, so don’t take yourselves too seriously.” –Brandon and Alexis Ward

We are honored to have Alexis and Brandon as our first #spotlightsaturday couple! CampbellEvents will be continuing to follow Brandon and Alexis’s marriage journey. Check in this Sautrday, September 12, to read about their journey to the altar.

Our Inspiration

images-1

I entered the backyard on that warm summer day. Looking around, I saw some mason jars with babies breath, a few wild flowers, rustic table runners, and a small wheelbarrow full of beer. There was family bustling around, Dad drinking beer and making jokes on the porch, and a breeze blowing by that consistently knocked over every DIY mason jar. At first glance there was nothing remarkable about this wedding. As I took my seat and watched the ceremony, tears filled my eyes.

The groom locked eyes with the Bride on her way down the aisle, sharing a secret stare radiating between them. The pastor walked through the ceremony, sharing with the audience of the covenant these two were fulfilling. He spoke of the details of the relationship, explaining how a lifetime friendship became something more. He encouraged the audience to take 20 seconds and look at the couple, remembering how far everyone had seen them come. Then they looked into each others eyes and each shed a tear, as they thought about how far they had come. Then the vows came, where she disclosed that she had been dreaming of marrying this man since she was 13. He then disclosed that he was an idiot for not noticing sooner. As wedding party paraded down the aisle, I shed another tear.

This is what a wedding should be all about. The beauty from this ceremony radiated throughout the entire event, making this one of the most beautiful ceremonies I was able to be a part of. Unfortunately, the wedding industry has put an emphasis on location, decorations, and expensive dresses. Although, event design and lavish menus are a passion of ours we vow to you that we will never let you go over your budget. We vow that we will always and forever find ways to make your wedding dreams come true while focusing on your upcoming marriage.

Today we would like to make a toast. Heres to marriages! Here’s to weddings that reflect your upcoming relationship. Here’s to family and friends coming together to support these two even in their darkest hour! Cheers!
