The Foundry: A Wedding That Read Like a Love Story (With a Few Plot Twists)

C + D’s wedding at The Foundry was the kind of Wedding that completely immerses you into their love story. Throughout the evening guests felt like they were stepping into entirely different worlds and the details and the rooms changed throughout the evening. 

The Scene-Setter

C+D Got married at The Foundry in Long Island City Queens. The Foundry is a former 19th-century factory turned event space, it’s layered with exposed brick, iron beams, hidden courtyards, and a fabulous view of the Queensboro Bridge. It doesn’t need much… but lends itself to many whimsical moments throughout the night, as your guests make their way through the various rooms of the venue. 

Upon invitation, Guests arrived to the Albra Room greeted by a string quartet, with sparkling cider and warm apple cider in hand. Our couple wanted their guests to feel cozy with  just the right amount of autumn nostalgia. It felt like the opening chapter of a really good book.

The Ceremony Moment

When is was time for the Ceremony, guests were invited into the Greenhouse. This space was filled with Vintage Wooden Chairs, programs that explained the meaning of each special walk down song (including Hadestown, Disney, and 21 pilots), and the piece de resistance, the ombre floral piece in the center of it all. 

And when we say Fern Botanica understood the assignment… we mean they absolutely nailed it. What started as a rough sketch and a color palette from my untrained artist hands, turned into a jaw-dropping, asymmetrical ombré installation, blending fresh and dried florals. Absolute Drama

The bridesmaids each carried a single stem, individual pieces of the Ombre statement piece, leading up to our Brides wild and textured bouquet that matched the Ivy all around the Foundry. 

And the dress? Damn. Worth its own paragraph. After finding inspiration at Lotus Bridal, our bride decided “almost right” wasn’t enough. She partnered with Martina Liana to create something entirely new, a custom gown with a full skirt, floral bodice, and removable sleeves. 

The Reception: Where It All Comes Together

In the Courtyard, our reception design leaned into the Secret Garden vibe of it all. 

Vintage tables from Kraus Tables, layered with marbled rentals from Something Vintage and Broadway Party Rentals, gave the space a special feeling. We featured marbled plates, vintage glassware, and candlelight everywhere with colorful tapered candles. Overhead, serpentine greenery installations dripped with lights to give the vibe of a Secret Garden and Lanterns to match the Scene from Disney’s Tangled (which C walked down the Aisle to). 

Back inside we added in lighting and a hell of a lot of Disco Balls by Shades of Grey so that the Dance floor could have an attitude all her own. These Disco balls were paired with Assymetrical Pink and Maroon Poofs designed by Fern Botanica. 

The Plot Twist: A Fully Literary Wedding

This wedding is full on a book lover’s dream. Our Bride is a big book girl, averaging at least a book read a week, so of course she had to incorporate this into her wedding day. Each table was styled with its own hand pick collection of books.The seating chart was built by us to Mimic a library with each book DIYed by the Bride, customized for every guest’s Escort card. At each place setting, Place cards were bookmarks illustrated with the couple and their cat, which might be one of our favorite details ever.

And just when you thought it couldn’t get better: every guest received a custom-written haiku from Ars Poetica, during cocktail hour. The whole evening as filled with these little surprises with each room revealing something new. 

The Food (Because Obviously This Crowd Came Hungry)

C + D skipped anything predictable and built a menu that felt like them.

Marcey Brownstein Catering delivered a cocktail hour with strong take out influences (their favorite) and playful tiki elements.  Midway through the night, a cheese interlude from Murray’s Cheese made an appearance (a power move, honestly) and the couple did a cutting from a “Cheese” Cake. 

Dessert was also a full experience: scoops from Ample Hills, baked goods from Ovenly, and treats from Luckybird Bakes. All of this was followed by late-night tacos and margaritas because… of course.

With “Its Electric” Photobooths capturing the chaos our friends got to pose with our couples giant cat cutout. Tunes from Empanadamn keeping guests dancing, the night could have gone on for hours. Our bride changed into a second look. The second look was a whimsical, fairy-like dress paired with hand-painted Converse Shoes – because one outfit simply wasn’t enough for a night like this.

All of our guests headed to the after party at Berry Park, where the night kept going until late. 

A Wedding Weekend That Actually Felt Like a Weekend

But wait… this wasn’t a one-day event, it was a full weekend experience. Guests checked into The William Vale on Friday to find welcome boxes. These boxes were filled with personal touches and favorite local treats (we love a couple that feeds their people well). The weekend kicked off with an intimate rehearsal dinner at Rule of Thirds. Afterwards we headed to rooftop cocktails for out-of-town guests and ended with a Goodbye Brunch at the William Vale. 

Planned and produced by Campbell Events as a full-service experience, this wedding was an immersive experience that SCREAMED C+D. 

Every detail told a story that night. We are sure that our guests have so many more stories from that evening, that they will tell for years to come.
