The Most Overlooked Budget Items and How to Avoid Surprises

Staffing: Without proper staff, even the most beautiful venue can turn chaotic. Skilled servers, bartenders, and coordinators are worth every penny.

Vendor Relationships: Choose reputable vendors, less expensive doesn’t always mean better. Reliable vendors deliver on time and ensure your vision is realized. Many vendors have their friends and favorites in the industry, ask around and I am sure you will find a vendor team that can work together cohesively.

Venue Accidental Costs: Raw spaces may seem cheaper but need equipment rentals, power sources, and extra staffing, which add up. Full Service venues often times have administration fees and local taxes to look for. Additionally, some full service venues charge extra for things that are outside of their normal offerings such as a lemonade station, offering water before the ceremony,  or adding coffee with dinner. If you have a vision in mind, make sure to talk through all expenses with them before signing. While Full Service venues come with less rental expenses, they at times, have other hidden fees.

Attire: Budget separately for your dress, tux, or accessories to avoid depleting your wedding production budget. This will keep clear boundaries between what it will take to produce the wedding and what

Tipping: Many companies do not include gratuities. Always ask vendors about hidden costs and clarify what’s included in their quotes to avoid surprises.

While often times these spaces are misconstrued as budget spaces, they truly are blank spaces to produce an event that screams YOU.

Should I include attire and wardrobe in the Wedding budget that I Share with my Planner?

No, attire should be a separate budget item. Your wedding production budget should cover venue, catering, decor, entertainment, rentals, and other day of essentials. Attire expenses vary widely and often require their own planning.
